The Cabin is a renovated A-frame on nearly five wooded acres in Jewett, NY. It sleeps five, has two full bathrooms with brand new showers, and was built for slow mornings, long dinners and a fire you don't have to hurry.

The upstairs bedroom has a king bed under the big triangle windows. The loft has a twin bed and a perch for reading. Both are up a spiral staircase, so they may not suit guests with mobility concerns. There are no blackout shades up here, because early light is part of the A-frame deal.
No stairs required. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a private bathroom with a brand new shower, so it works well for anyone who'd rather skip the spiral staircase. There are dressers instead of closets, so pack light.

Cabin bathrooms usually get a pass. Ours don't need one. There are two full bathrooms, both renovated with brand new showers, so five people can get ready without drawing up a schedule.
Think a backlit round mirror, brushed-brass fixtures, a deep green vanity and tile floors, with fresh towels rolled and waiting, all under the same pine boards as the rest of the cabin. The downstairs bath belongs to the queen bedroom, so whoever sleeps there never has to share.
A deep leather sectional, a pile of throws, a 65-inch TV and a wood-burning stove for the evenings. The big front windows look out over the porch to the fire pit, so you can keep an eye on the red chairs from the couch.

The kitchen is remodeled, with a breakfast nook, a full set of cookware and butcher-block counters (use a cutting board; the butcher block thanks you).

The new deck has a full outdoor sofa set, a coffee table and a big red umbrella for afternoon shade. The covered front porch has rockers, a ceiling fan and the firewood rack within arm's reach. Coffee on one, dinner on the other. Dogs welcome on both.
A big stone fire pit with firewood provided, and a treehouse for the kids. Pets are welcome, and there are nearly five acres of woods to wander. Out here, lights off means stars on.

The upstairs bedroom and loft are up a spiral staircase. There are dressers instead of closets. There are no blackout shades upstairs, so the sun gets a vote. Pets are welcome, the fire pit is for use with an adult present, and the owner's closet and basement are locked. Check-in is at 3:00 PM. The full house rules are on the Good to Know page.
